What Type Of Exercises Can I Do With My Mountain Bike?



I work on a mountain bike, as in 8 hours straight, pedaling around a parking garage. I’ve been doing things such as pedaling up the up-ramps, carrying my bike up and down stairs and doing a couple miles in the highest gear. I was hoping to find a site showing some different exercises or techniques I could do while riding at work but everything seems to revolve around exercise bikes.

    If you are ridding around in a parking garage then you ARE doing exercise! Keep it up until it gets too easy.

    Cool job!
    * pedal with one leg, sounds funny, but it will help smooth your pedal stroke out, making you use all parts of your leg muscles
    * spin more – lower gears – will also help in smoothing pedal stroke out
    * try more bike handling skill exercises – go up and down curbs, etc. Careful with wheels/rims
    * sprints – try pedalling up the upramp quickly spinning for 20 secs or as long as you can hold it – repeat 3 or more times

    Studies show it is really effective to push really hard for 30seconds – a few minuets then take it easy for 30 seconds them push it again and repeat the cycle.
