Well, how much money do you want to spend? Jumps and down hilling two very different things. I would suggest looking at some good trail bikes that are strong enough to downlight yet light enough to maneuver the bicycle in the air. I would suggest looking at some mainstream bicycle manufactures like the kona, specialized, santa cruz, and trek bicycles. If your are barely starting out as a beginner I wouldn’t suggest buy a bicycle with a triple clamp forx or dual suspension. Buy a decent enough bike to last you a couple years, but serve the purpose. You can always upgrade. Set your minimum expense at around 800 dollars.
hey hun, i am a keen rider, and it depends on your surroundings, or what you want to do with your bike…………
If you live in a city, and you want to use it for getting around…FAST…I would recommend a Hybrid….they have big wheels, so when you peddle, you go faster than your average bike…like mountain or bmx……but these bikes aren’t really made for the country, or off road biking…
or…if you live in city, or country, and you just want to get about, and go off road and do a few tricks, or downhilling, a mountain bike is best, with dual shock, and disc lock brake, as they’re more reliable!! my boyfriend has a KONA Shred…they look hefty, but are one of the best…..and amazingly light weight, 24 speed.. you will be able to lift it no probs, epsecially if you can lift your average mountain bike…it costs around £1,000. but youll see why if you get one, or look one up.but these are especially for tricks and downhilling, and on the road, are quite truicky, as the gears are for tricks, not for speed, so hard going uphill sometimes!lol!….. but if you want something more budgeted, a Boss Slice, dual suspension 18 speed, with front disc lock, i got from littlewoods for £130!!!alot of difference!!
A BMX is ofcourse just for tricks, so probrably wont be for you!!
I hope you find the bike you want…..but to help you decide, i have added a link of two….with Q’s about the best mountain bikes, and a site who rates the best!!!!!good luck! =P xxxxx
be careful of mongoose- their mtb frames had a habit of breaking in half.
don’t get a cheap dual suspension- you’re better off with a better quality hardtail.
depends on your budget really, if its limited i’d check for a 2nd hand one thats a year or 2 old and hasn’t done much offroad. get a reputable brand i would say- not taiwanese
