What Is The Best Brand Of Mountain Bike?
I am trying to purchase a mountain bike for my fiancee and I and are having trouble finding a reliable brand. Most stores do not know much about the bikes they are selling they mainly state that the brands are not very good when something goes wrong, such as Huffy, Ozone, Next, and more. I am wanting to know a reliable brand of mountain bike that is not way too expensive.

The brands that you refer to are Dept store JUNK. this is exactly why they are telling you this because they are JUNK and when you walk into a REAL bicycle shop (NOT wal mart and the like) you will NOT hear any of this! Anything other than these will be reliable and will come with the knowledge and the service after the sale that goes with a “reliable” branded bike. You get what you pay for and in cycling that is especially true. If you have budgeted yourself too low ($100per bike or less ) then you are doomed to get JUNK. If you are at the $200 level then you are barely scratching the surface. If you are at the $300 an up level then you are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Here is one to compare to another : http://next-bike.com/models.php?model=pc… see all the flashy colors….that is the “best” thing about these. The price on this one is about $159….Here is one from a bike shop that is three times as much in EVERY aspect: http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Pro… it is a GT branded bike and it is of GT’s lower end in quality I would personally stack it as TOP of the line next to a NEXT (bike shaped object) whats more both of these are made by the same company. So you see what you get from the dept store that has no mechanics or parts available or anyone who knows what the hell they are doing or do you go to a bike shop and spend your money wisely? Stop looking at dept store junk and save a bit more for quality and everything else that goes with it! BTW, the “best” bike brand is the one that fits you properly and feels good when you ride it and you know you got your moneys worth out of it in the long run. All brands (shop brands) are essentially equall!
Go to a shop that specializes in bicycles. Brands like specialized, gary fischer, scott, raleigh, cannondale, salsa, surly, giant, trek, fuji, just about anything that you will find at a bicycle focused store will be relialble. I currently ride a scott scale 50, and scott’s lower end seems to be good. You are going to get a lot of value out of a raleigh or specialized, and a surly will be tough as nails.
there are many good brands and many brands have a range of models. it’s the model, components, whether it fits you that matter–impossible to answer completely given the information. I have a Gary Fischer.
GT or Cannondale. Both can be expensive if you go high end, but you can get low end for cheaper, and will last longer, and ride smoother than buying the high end at WalMart. Tough to find stores that carry them though unless you live near a place that specializes in bikes, but you can get them online.
You have to go to a bike shop to get a good bike. Take your fiancee with to get fitted. Walmart and other department store bikes are junk.
TREK, GIANT, SPECIALIZED
gary fischers

scott makes some gnarly downhill bikes
