i have a 20in mountain bike, and i was wondering if i can go buy pegs at Wal-mart or something, and install it on my mountain bike without replacing/changing the rear axle? so, can i?

I’m looking for a cheap/easy way to convert my mountain bike into a stationary bike, or at the very least use it indoors without motion, and I’d really like to avoid trainers due to financial reasons.
Any suggestions on how I might rig something up?
