I’m Buying Clipless Mountain Bike Pedals And Shoes. Should I Splurge More On The Shoes Or Pedals?

I have limited funds (less than $120) and I would like to buy a set of clippless mountain bike pedals and a pair of the “performance” style shoes. What is more important, nice shoes, or nice pedals? Which should I splurge more on?
I am thinking about the brands nashbar and shimano, and I am wondering whether I should get the cheaper nashbar pedals and the more expensive shoes, or the more expensive pedals and cheaper pedals.

Can You Give Me Some Good Mountain Bike Buying Advice?

I am looking for a mountain bike that can take a beating on dirt/rock trails, have full suspension, and disc brakes if possible. The thing is every one I look at is thousands of dollars. No way I can afford to do that. Is there something cheaper that would be a nice starter bike for an adult male? Maybe in the $500 to the (gulp) $1,000 range? Thanks. There’s just no way I will spend over 2 grand on a hobby that I may or may not fall in love with doing.

What Should I Look For When Buying A Mountain Bike?

I want to start cycling or mountain biking but am basically new to this. What are some basic features I should look for and how much should I expect to spend for my first bike?

What’s A Good Mountain Bike For A Woman Buying Her First Bike?

I’m looking for a good bike for myself to do some mountain biking in Vermont. I’m fairly aggressive, but won’t be doing any 8 ft drops or anything like that…but I certainly won’t be just meandering through dirt paths. I’m fairly new as I’ve only been using friends old beat up bikes. Any suggestions for a good bike for a woman with moderate aggressiveness yet fairly new to mountain biking?
