My dad has a brokenmountain bike and I really want to fix it up and make it my own. I really wanted to customize it and make it look really cool. Any ideas on what I should do?
Depending on what’s broken and what brand of frame it really may not be worth it. But if it is worth it to you a great way to do customization is to take it to a powder coater who will give you whatever color you want. Then you can follow it up with custom stickers if you like as most malls have vinyl sticker places/kiosks that will make whatever you want. As for component customization, it would probably be best to take it to a bike shop and they will be able to give you the best info on sizes of certain parts that you can find either on ebay or through the shop and most will give you info for free unless they start doing any work on it. Don’t give up and just keep going to try and get a ride you can enjoy. Good Luck.
If it’s a broken frame, you should just start over.
If it’s a Walmart frame, any components you buy will cost more than the bike is worth.
If either of these is the case, buy a nice bike or start from scratch. If you’ve never built a bike, have a shop that knows what they’re doing give you advice on components & have them build it for you.
That’s what I did with both my bikes. It’s great to have a bike that’s one-of-a-kind. Once you’re done, you could have a custom paint job done on it.
so what is broken on it so we can help you determine if it is worth fixing and what kind???
