If you already have the suspension, it can be as little as $100 without brakes. All you need is the freewheel conversion kit, and a chain tensioning system. You can get both for like $70 total. That is assuming you are not replacing the crankset rings. If you are… you can get a really nice setup for like $50-70. If you are keeping the same brakes… well… lets say tops $150… if you are changing brakes… depending on which type you get… $150-300.

  2. I ‘m puzzled, why would you want to do this? I know you can buy kits to put a single fixed or freewheel on the cassette hub, but this is something you would do on a road bike when riding in the Winter. Am I missing something?

Jenson has a kit to convert your bike into a single speed for around $20 for the hard tail conversion. The kit for a full suspension is about $50. Go to the “component” listing and the kits are listed under “cassettes and freewheels”.
Hope you enjoy having a single speed .
    One is the loneliest number.
