Endurance will be a good place to start get yourself some ankle weights and start on a exercise bike training like that for awhile then you start Doing some stuff like running up hills try and build some stamina then try doing some mountain biking with ankle weights on. Don’t wear them on the day of the race. Make sure you can stay hydrated properly.

    Ride. A lot.
If you’ve already picked out an event, practice on the course if that’s possible. If not, then find a practice venue with similar terrain and surface.
It may also be beneficial to find a group, club or team in your area to ride with so you can learn bike handling skills from the more experienced riders.

  3. Train on big hills!
Mentally you need to race everthing. Personally I race to beat distant traffic lights before they turn red. Its up to you but hills are the key.
    Good luck!
