I currently have a specialized rockhopper with all the standard components. Its a mountain bike through and through. I am somewhat new to the biking world and I know it is possible to convert it to a road bike but how would one go about it? and with all that in mind, would it not be worth it and should i just save up for a road bike?

I will have the bike shop guy set me up with the right size and everything, but will using more road-friendly tires increase my speed and distance? I love mountain biking but I figure I need to start using my bike for all-purpose activities, such as getting groceries. I want to be able to go further and faster but without purchasing a road bike.
Is there anything else I can do to help compensate for the heavy frame?

I want to purchase a mountain bike for around $200 dollars. I ride in the evening on the street with my little boy and need a new bike. I have found Mongoose and Schwinn’s but do not know which would be best? I am 6′3 and 220 pounds so I need a good sturdy one, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have no idea know what to look for when choosing a good mountain bike. Im from Houston so no mountains
, but have some decent trails. I know there are so many options now a days and have no idea where to start. To be honest im not sure if height matters but I am 5′9″. I plan to ride 2-3 times a week. Which name brands are good?

I’m looking to get a mountain bike next month and wanted to know what is the ideal bike for a beginner who’s not looking to spend more than $150.

I purchased everything I need, and built a mountain bike. I had the frame powder coated white and with “POLICE” decals purchased on ebay, decorated it accordingly. At first glance it might appear I stole it from an officer of the law. A closer look would make it obvious I didn’t. Just wondering if this is not legal, even if I keep it away from air shows and other places the bicycle cops patrol.

Hi I’m new to biking. I’m starting to get more and more interested in mountain biking. I enjoy going to my local canyon in Aliso Viejo. I was just wondering what are some inexpensive and easy ways to make my bike well, better(faster, lighter, etc.). I have a specialized that i bought a few years ago. it has disk brakes, shocks, 24 gears, it was about 300 dollars. so how do i make it better?

I have limited funds (less than $120) and I would like to buy a set of clippless mountain bike pedals and a pair of the “performance” style shoes. What is more important, nice shoes, or nice pedals? Which should I splurge more on?
I am thinking about the brands nashbar and shimano, and I am wondering whether I should get the cheaper nashbar pedals and the more expensive shoes, or the more expensive pedals and cheaper pedals.
