I want a mountain bike that can be used on a daily basis for both road and trail.
height: 6 feet, 0 inches
weight: 190lbs plus backpack
expected price range: $300 to $500
At first, I stupidly bought something for $50 thinking I could use it to ride to my college campus and back. There were many headaches fixing the piece of crap since the parts were so cheap (particularly the wheel bearings). So, I have had enough of that and want something better. What brand or model performs consistently well and why? Also, any USA bike stores you recommend or is it just primarily the local shops that are good?
I can’t find the chain link and my tire is flat so i need to get a new one..is tehre any way I ca take off the chain or do I even need to take the chain off?
It is a mountain bike.
I’ve lost my quick release clamp for the saddle post of my mountain bike and I want to buy a new one online but the website I was on gave me this warning:
“Varying Clamp Sizes
Be aware that there are many variations in the size of the frame seat tubes. This means that clamps can come in many different sizes. Make sure that you know exactly what size of clamp you need before ordering”
How do I know?
I would like to upgrade some parts on my Mongoose D60r mountain bike but I do not know where to start. I can’t seem to find any specifications for the bike online. Can anyone tell me of any good upgrades and what will fit my bike? Thanks! =)
I have a mountain bike that i use for getting around town, never offroad, am i making life harder for myself?
No description for this product could be found, but have a look over at Amazon for reviews and other information.

Equipped with a smooth-riding front-suspension fork, the Mongoose Montana men’s mountain bike is a great choice for both trail and street riding. The bike includes such features as a full alloy MTB frame that holds up durably to rough handling, along with MTB riser bars and a quill stem. The 21-speed SRAM MRX shifters and Shimano rear derailleur, meanwhile, provide plenty of control whether you’re on flat or hilly terrain. Finally, the bike’s alloy black rims and extra-wide 1.95-inch tires roll smoothly over pavement, grass, or dirt. Other features include alloy linear pull brakes and levers, an adjustable quick-release seat, a three-piece ATB crank, 26-inch wheels, and a rust-resistant powder coating. The Montana carries a one-year warranty.

I have a mountain bike with frame mounted brakes. The rear brakes have always made a loud squeak even when I replace the pads.
Which parks in or near the SF bay area (San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose) have good mountain bike trails?
